Courses are delivered through a blend of classroom instruction, lab simulations, and hybrid learning models. The final year emphasizes professional clinical practice with supervised rotations in affiliated healthcare facilities.
Curriculum Highlights
Students begin with foundational courses in medical communication, research methods, anatomy and physiology, and are introduced to cardiovascular anatomy and technology fundamentals. Progressing through the program, students gain proficiency in electrocardiography, pharmacology, stress testing, ambulatory monitoring, and venipuncture techniques.
By the second year, focus shifts to advanced topics such as cardiac device management, electrophysiology, pediatric cardiology, and invasive cardiac diagnostics. The final three trimesters are dedicated to clinical training, allowing students to apply knowledge in professional healthcare environments, with emphasis on ECG interpretation, patient care, stress testing, and device monitoring.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of this program are qualified for entry-level and mid-level positions such as: Cardiology Technologist, ECG Technician / Electrophysiology Technologist, Cardiac Device / Pacemaker Technologist, Stress Testing Technician / Holter Monitoring Specialist, Cardiac Rehabilitation Assistant, Clinical Application Specialist (Medical Devices), Cardiovascular Lab Assistant.
Graduates may pursue international certifications such as: Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT) that is widely accepted across the Caribbean and / or Cardiac Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) applicable in the United States.
